Food is really good. It's fresh, and decently priced. I'm not a seafood fan, but enjoyed everything I ate or sampled. Only weird thing. .. when I tried to cash in the yelp review, the server too my phone from me and went in the back with it.... then told me I couldn't use it because it's not valid. Yelp really needs to do something about the places that put up special offers to draw people in then make up a reason why they can't offer it. Other than that, the food is great, would Def recommend. ... just don't trust any special offers... and probably not any coupons you might find.

Had it not been for my overcooked fish and several bones in it, this easily would have been a plus five star rating. Your seafood is so fresh and wait staff so pleasant it would be a crime to issue you anything less than four stars. However, I was not sure if to issue three stars. Although it is not uncommon to find a bone in fresh fish, I stopped counting and eating after the third bone when I was about to swallow it.. It was obviously fresh and it did not have that lingering seafood smell you find at other restaurants. This restaurant is great for people turned off by that smell. For appetizer I had the crab cakes. They are so fresh and delicious I tore up the plate leaving no glimpse of crab cakes on my plate. My main entrée I had the Corvina Morocco. It was obviously fresh but It was so overcooked the edges were hard. The sauce is quite nice and unusual for a Hispanic restaurant. Hence, why I ordered it. For dessert I had the coconut flan and oh my goodness, I wanted another one. The rice tasted like rice, the salad tasted like salad and so on. Again, not the case in all seafood restaurants. Great presentation on the plates as well. Don't let the NW Hialeah address scare you. Here in Hialeah it changes from west to north west like an Alfred Hitchcock movie by crossing the street. It's easy to find, right next to Lago Grande. I will definitely be back to try something else. #KeepItLocal Lo siento, pero esta reseña no la voy a hacer en español. Casi imposible usando un teclado americano y va a tomar mucho tiempo.

I recently visited this place with my gf on a Friday evening. The location from the outside as previously stated does not look like much. However don't let that discourage you from visiting. The food: I ordered a full snapper(red) , with the rice and salad. My gf had the shrimp, as well as the conch fritters as appetizers and everything was delicious. As far as the service from the staff, I have to say it was almost better than the food lol. The waitress was super attentive the entire time passed by a few times to check that everything was okay and refilled our cups. Only thing that could make this place better is a better beer selection I myself like the darker laggers like Yuengling and Amberbock. But I know that the surrounding community is a Corona, Presidente, Beck's fan so I had to settle for a corona.

This small place is on a small wharehouse complex but offer a wide menu and fresh seafood, the place is always clean and the personal is knowledge about the plates they offer, familiar atmosphere, never a waiting list and great deals for your money, so next time you are in the mood for fresh sea food this place will satisfied you.

If you're looking to have your fish served up just right, and are tired of having that limited to the local drag show, drag yourself over to Cayo Esquivel in Hialeah Gardens. Don't let the simple outside keep you from coming in to a cozy, friendly and inviting establishment with excellent service and, dare I said, DELICIOUS food. Surprisingly easy to get to, Cayo Esquivel offers a menu of fresh, interesting but simple and understated dishes that will satisfy all seafood lovers. I had an amazing avocado salad topped with a grilled grouper that melted in my mouth. My friend and I started our meal by sharing grilled octopus. I wanted there to be a buffet of it. My fellow diners had entire grilled fish on their plates which looked mouth-watering. The decor is right out of Key West. There's nothing fancy about the layout or the seating, but the food is worth it. Cayo Esquivel in Hialeah Gardens is one of those hidden gems. Go!!!

Went for lunch on Thurs and the place was fairly full. I really enjoyed the different dishes they offer. The bread is freshly baked in house- warm and delicious. The appetizers are really unique like their fried fish huevas, rituras de bacalao, coconut shrimps w/pineapple sauce, ect. The Tostones are from fresh plantains - not like all the other restaurants that serve u the frozen stuff - what a difference this makes! You can chose your fish and they will cook it for you. The coconut flan is a must! Super creamy and delicious. They make it in house as well. Don't let the outside fool you. Once you're inside, it feels like any other restaurant in the keys. Overall, this is a great place if you're in the mood for fresh seafood.

I would've given more stars but I feel the quality has deteriorated. I am an avid seafood foodie. I love fish sandwiches and when I first ate here I fell in love. Great price, nice big piece of fresh yummy fish, delicious steak fries, prompt service; it was great. I was happy to learn about their Bird rd. location and shortly became a regular there. Sadly, after about 2 months the quality of their sandwiches started to deteriorate. The piece of fish kept getting smaller, the fries were stale several times, and on more than 3 occasions they got my carry out order wrong, did I mention their fries were stale? The price wasn't bad but the quality got so bad I rarely visit either restaurant anymore.

This is not a high end restaurant in terms of looks, location, and price...but its a 5 star restaurant in terms of quality and food freshness. I consider this restaurant a local gem.

Cayo Esquivel is an all seafood Latin style restaurant, their menu is very extensive. My husband loves this restaurant because the Seafood is fresh, and they make a very good paella and the seafood casuela is his favorite. I'm not that big of fan of seafood, but I can appreciate the variety of dishes and, the wait staff are all very nice ladies, very friendly and knowledgeable. Another thing I like is that, my daughter always likes to order orange juice when we go to restaurants, and theirs is always fresh squeeze orange juice. There is also and in-house fish market if you wish to purchase seafood. The food here is really good, even my kids like it and they are very picky ,specially when it comes to seafood. They can also prepare you dish with any type of fish and sauce you like. Good portions and great prices.

Saturday evening dinner. The place was relatively empty yet the service was still horrible. The food was fine but when we received the bill they had already included tip (propina in Spanish) an then had a line for gratuity (Gratuidad, which I'd never heard of). That's a bit shady if you ask me and not something I'm willing to support ever again. I will never return and make sure no one I know ever goes there.

My virgin trip to this establishment and it was wonderful. I'm so full I can't think straight. I had the shrimp ceviche to start my adventure and is was really good. They serve small rolls with a garlic butter spread. the bread was soft and warm. For lunch I had the grilled seafood ( shrimp, calamari, mussels, scallops topped with a lobster tail) yellow rice and salad. The salad was really good with the various veggies they had in it. The waitress was really nice and helpful. She was very alert and attentive. Thanks for making my first experience a good one. Next spot to bring my son, family and friends.

Hialeah Gardens Location::I was a big fan of this place...but last 2 times the quality has changed...the soups are watered down and when you walk in... it smells Really Really Fishy..."Not fresh fish"): & they have a new chef working in the kitchen that is eating while cooking the whole time....Not sure if he's munching on your food...but it's Nasty! So unprofessional. I'll be looking for another fish spot.

I love this place and I love that is literally 2 mins from my house. The food is always on point and the seafood is always fresh. My favorite plates to order are the whole fried fish and the pastas with the pink sauce (that pink sauce it's amazing!!!). I'm lucky to have this restaurant at walking distance.

i live close by and i had never been here till recently. All i can say is that i couldnt believe I had not been here before. This place deserves a spot in one of those travel channel shows. Fish is fresh, appetizers are addicting, conch fritters, frituras de bacalao, lobster empanada. The sandwhiches are incredible. A must go

Owners recently repainted the outside, which has made it more inviting. Parguito Frito is what I order as my entree every time I come here, it's so good! Also, the oysters are always fresh and the conch fritters are tasty. The menu is extensive and there is something for everyone. Great sopa de cherna as well. Prices are decent, but it's too bad that the oysters went up like $4. This used to be my to go place for oysters, until a few months ago you could get a dozen for only $8.75. Please note it's a Latin sea food restaurant, VERY laid back and your waitress will probably not speak in English, but again this is Hialeah.

Cayo Esquivel is the only seafood place that I eat in. I always order el pargo frito with arroz amarillo and its so yummy. You pick your fish and the way they prepare it so good. The rice is very yummy too. It has little pieces of seafood in it which makes it even better. There pretty cheap as for seafood and they have a very nice atmosphere.
